Killed when a land mine detonated near his HMMWV during combat operations near Al Taqaddum, Iraq. Assigned to 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry, Michigan National Guard, Saginaw, MI.

Timothy (Timmy) D. Brown was born on October 7, 1982, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Tim and Cynthia Brown. Timmy was the first of two children, the other being his sister Stevie. Timmy grew up and attended school in Cedar Springs, was a member of the soccer team and graduated in 2002. Timmy loved camping, hunting and shooting paintball guns, and always dreamed of being in the military. In 2003, Timmy joined the Michigan National Guard and for two years attended drill weekends at Camp Grayling, Michigan. He qualified as a sharpshooter and was promoted to Specialist (W-4), after just two years in the military. Timmy was activated for support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in January, 2005. He received additionla training in Mississippi and California before being depolyed overseas as a member of Campany B, 125th Infantry, Michigan National Guard. While in Iraq Timmy was nicknamed "UPS" by his squad, due to the Company's slogan: "What can Brown do for you?" In August, he became "Uncle Timmy", when sister Stevie gave birth to Nathan. On November 4th, 2005, while engaged in combat operations in Habbaniyah, Iraq, Specialist Timothy D. Brown made the ultimate sacrifice when a land mine detonated near his Humvee. Specialis Timothy D. Brown's awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal (Postumous), the Purple Heart Medal (Postumous), the Army Achhievement Medal, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Distinguished Marksman Ribbon, the Michigan Broadsword Service Ribbon, the Michigan War on Terrorism Ribbon, the Michigan Outside the U.S. Service Ribbon, and the Army Expert Weapons Badge.
